Classes are held for children aged 3 to 8 years every Thursday and Saturday-see schedule for more info. The aim is to introduce young children to the concept of dance in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Pupils develop their confidence through simple routines based on Tango, Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Jive etc. We have many fun dances such as the Hockey Cokey and Birdie song. We also learn some Hip Hop (a certain high School Musical is very popular at the moment). Oh, and don’t forget to bring your teddy!!
OLDER CHILDRENS CLASSES
For pupils with an age range of 9 years through to 18 years, these classes are designed for all abilities, from beginners to advanced. Pupils have the option of entering many competitions and taking their dance exams as well as participating in fundraising events and an annual class trophy day. These classes run throughout the year with the school calendar and you can join at any stage. You will learn how to dance with a partner and will become proficient in Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Jive , Samba etc as well as team dance and Hip Hop- the sky is the limit! See schedule for more details.
ADULT CLASSES
Learning to dance must be one of the most rewarding and enjoyable hobbies anyone can take up! With the popularity of “Strictly Come Dancing” on BBC1 loads of people have thrown caution to the wind and joined up for a course of lessons. Whether you want to get active and keep fit, or just want to hold your own on the dance floor at the next wedding you attend, an eight week course should give you the confidence and basics you need. Deaton Dancing has courses for adults from beginners and intermediates and even advanced dancers with the emphasis on fun and sociability- laughter is a necessary ingredient of every class!
PRIVATE LESSONS/WEDDING CHOREOGRAPHY
You may want to learn how to dance for your wedding day, or just build some confidence on the dance floor. Either way a private lesson is a great way to do this. These can be arranged to suit you.
PROFESSIONAL COACHING
Yvonne Deaton will make sure you are excellently prepared for your Professional Examinations in both theory and practical work. Experience is an essential part of your teacher training and this will be provided in a class atmosphere.
